LT95 Transfer Box Seals - Part Numbers and Tips

    G'day all,

Recently we replaced the front and rear output shaft seals on my LT95 transfer box. After only a few thousand km's they are leaking again badly (at least my chassis rail has been rust proofed nicely!). Does anybody have any tips or tricks with replacing these seals? Can speedy sleeves be used in this situation? Are there any double lip seals available, and if so, what are the part numbers?

    Thank you,

    Edward

Speedi sleeves can be used on the drive flanges if the wear groove is excessive. I would be checking the transfer case breather firstly as the most likely cause. There are double lipped seals available FTC4939 rear and FTC5258 for the front.

    Hi Bearman,

Thank you for your speedy reply. I'll grab the torch and check the breather right now.

    Cheers,

    Edward

it should be on the firewall under the bonnet. You will probably need a bit of plastic pipe that will fit over the breather pipe as it's a big hard to get your noggin up to the pipe!!

I just checked all the breather hoses on the firewall and they are fine - very easy to blow through and i could feel the air coming back out. Bugger, I got all excited that it would be an easy fix!

    Thanks again,

    Edward

did you use the felt washers? new ones. your TF is not over full of oil.

the TF case end float is not excessive allowing the output shafts to wobble around a bit?
