Hi all!
Head had to come off due to compression escaping at the back. As it does.
Now I'm happy with the condition of the head overall.
No excess warpage
No cracks
No pitting
No corrosion
Exaust valves how ever have radial movement of 16 thou where 6 thou is the limit (only have imperial dial indicator). Valve stems measured ok. Now is this much of a concern? If so is the replacement of valve guides doable with a press without heating the head to 120 degrees as stated in the manual or is it machine shop job as a must? What sort of price are we talking then?
All cylinders have honing marks still visible. Is there anyglhing else I can check as far as pistons and rings without taking them out?
Thanx all!

Thanks Frank. I have access to a good press, that's why I was thinking of changing guides myself, but no valve regrinding tools except lapping paste and stick with suction cup. Head doesn't need macining as it is in good enough condition just valve guides.

When you fit new Valve guides, whether you do it or a w/shop does it, the valve seats need to be ground through the NEW valve guides to align the valve seats (on the valve head) perfectly with the Valve seat inserts in the head.
You will never get the Valve to line up as it was in the old guides as the valve seats were machined through the original guides.
So unless you have the correct Valve seat cutters and machinery to grind new seats through your new valve guides, then you will need to get it done professionally, Regards Frank.
