    Replacing Reversing Lights to LED

    Hello All,

Has anyone tried a replacement 30W Cree Led "Seriously Bright" reverse lights to replace the factory fitted reverse bulbs? Did the replacement LEDs make much difference? Or is it best to just add an additional set of LED reverse or "work" type of lights?

I bought a VY Holden Commodore to replace my long serving VN Commodore as my daily driver and long distance cruiser. I noticed that the VY's reverse light pale into insignificance compared to my old VN.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Same here in my wife's P38. Apart from the bulb warning, they're a big improvement. I'm sure mine are only about 10w so I might have a search for your 30watters.

    Hello Scouse,

Hmmm 80 watts might be worth a look into?

The current reverse lights are so bad I asked my wife Leeann to check to see if they were coming on! The old VN used to light up the immediate area soon as you selected reverse.

You would think that a more modern vehicle would have at least a similar effectiveness in their lights.

I would prefer to beef up the existing lights rather than put external units on.

    Kind Regards

160w vs a factory 42w ... Enjoy the wiring issues / blowing fuses etc...

    Hello Tombie,

Hmmm I have twin bulbs per side for the factory reverse lights.

I wonder if they make auxiliary reverse light units that can be stuck on the inside of the rear window of the station wagon?

With a nice new little relay to have a new circuit on

    Kind Regards

Have you checked that the vehicle hasnt been fitted with lower wattage bulbs in error..

Even with twin lights - that would make 4x 80 = 320w... Thats 26 amps

    With P21W its running 84w = 7 amps...

    I'd look at 4x 30w Cree units...
