    Some cheap cranking batteries don't have much lead in them any more, but good quality deep cycle batteries sure do. The Fullriver 100Ah batteries I use weigh in at over 30kg each. You get what you pay for sometimes.

    Sounds like the hot water system in the house we bought last year. When the plastic plug popped out and water flooded the house, the plumber said the Dux system was 30 years old and still going strong. New plug and some wiring repairs and away it went. He said a new water heater would be lucky to last 10 years. Just don't make them like they used to.


    Incidentally, is it true that in America batteries have to carry a 10 year warranty or is that a fairy story?
