It's a bit strange!

During the recent discussion re baulky/notchy manual boxes on a Td5, someone suggested removing the plug attached to the clutch master cylinder which apparently is supposed to smooth gear changes or stop surging.
I thought I'd give it a try so last night I removed it ........... only to find that the black/white wire had been neatly cut (it wasn't a recent cut) at some time in the past.

I bought the vehicle new and until recently the only people to get their hands on it was the Main Stealer!
So who I wonder could have done it?
Now I'll never know if it makes a difference or not unless I patch the wires together and I won't do that as the changes aren't that flash as it is.

what happens when the wires are connected to the clutch is.....
you need to change gears slowly (even double clutch sometimes) to get a smooth gear change without the crunch....then you have turbo lag....

with the switch disconnected......you can change the gears as quick as you would in a car and they wont crunch.....if you change too slow you will get the crunch but not as bad...and there is no more turbo lag between the changes....

it feels like a whole new car......

its worth connecting them just for the experience......see what you are NOT missing out on.....

Td5 Clutch.

Thanks for that Defenderzook. The gear change is bad enough as it is so I can't imagine how it could be worse!
As I said in a previously it's worse now that the oil has been changed especially when cold.

The Main Stealer after being asked to examine it said "Gearbox OK at this stage" meaning I suppose it didn't have enough kays (20,000)on it to really tell if it was duff or just needed wearing in.

I think another visit is called for but I reckon the answer will be the same. They are not too clever when it comes to servicing or possible warranty claims and I'm not exactly enthusiastic about anything they do.
I'll let you know what happens.

Yes, it is called the LT95 4-speed gearbox emulation feature. With it connected, your car feels like a whole OLD car.

Thinking on who cut it I reckon it must have been the Main Stealer when I asked them to check the box at 20,000 klms.

I must be careful what I say about them as the service manager picked me up on it once before when I'd criticised them.
What I said to him was what I'd written in a post on another forum and he wasn't happy said that it was slanderous!

Still I'll have to go back and try to get them to check the box again but don't hold out much hope for a satisfactory answer.
If thet still give a load of BS I'll approach LR Australia and see what they say.
