IME, as big as you can afford Ali.
I've nearly maxxed out 20t on radius arms and the A frame ball joint.
They went, but it was a struggle.
Hi
What size of press would you need to press bushes out of radius arms and other suspension bushes on a Landy.
Looking at a 6 ton one but don't think this would be enough the press the old bushes out. Would this do I would I need a 12 ton one
Cheers

Ive maxed a 50T and then shattered the A frame arms.
the lesson here
DO not use loctite bearing mount goops to install bushes, copper or silver antisieze is the answer. Also get in there with a cylinder wire flay or bottle brush hone and get that rust out of there
they should go in and out with a 10t press BUT..
you dont even need that, just a good selection of sockets, backing plates, high tensile threaded rod some nuts, washers, a hot air gun or 500w light and make up a puller.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
I've managed to get away with my Supercrap 6T press so far for the 110, but I'd probably say if you going to get one go with the 12T or upwards.
IME a press is one of those things that you find additional uses for once you have one, so as Rick130 said, get as big a one as you can afford/justify.
Mine won't even touch the lower balljoints on my old Falcon, and I had to take them to someone with a 20T press, which only just did the job.
If you're likely to use it for any gearbox stuff try and make sure the frame will fit the flavour of boxes you're likely to play with. Mine unfortunately doesn't fit a LT95 case
For refitting bushes, I'm using all Superpro poly bushes now which are easier to fit using a bench vice than trying to juggle in the press with grease on them.

Hi,
Dunno why anyone does this any more.
You can cut most of the old rubber bushes out with a jigsaw and a long metal (Bosch) metal blade.
Fit Superpro with a vice (if needed) and enjoy similar longevity and ride and be able to inspect / service / replace with very basic tools.
Buying Superpro from Paddocks in the UK is way cheaper than buying here, even Oz is where they're made.
The quality of these bushes is as good as it gets and plenty on here are using them.
cheers, DL
I have cut them out before but the effort is better spent driving somewhere that has a press.

Well I am taking out the bushes to replace with Polybush Blue bushes which I picked up when I was in the uk.
So don't know how much longer after I will need the press, now I come to think about it.
I do prefer the Polybush bush ones so I can do it myself later. Makes bush changes a Saturday morning job.
Thanks for all your replays
Cheers

Limiting factor seems to be the A frame b/j - and in some cases 20t is only just enough.
Perhaps easier to do or get done on someone else's ??

I did all my suspension bushes with a 20T press I bought for around $300. Press has come in handy quite a few times since then.
Had no issue with the 20T press but wouldn't have wanted a lighter one.
