I'm a huge rap for the Td5 even without the power up chip. Last fill was 85 litres, 801Km including the Aulro snow trip on sunday which had us in low range for quite a bit of the time plus mountain driving most of the day.

If it is an about-town car for most of the time, then finding a V8 on LPG is the cheapest running cost. I am glad we bought what we bought, even though it is a little bit of a nuisance filling the LPG every 300km. It is less than $30 per fill though!

If you have the extra cash, go the Td5.

I had a '95 Disovery 3.9 V8 and only had it for about 13 months. Beautiful feel about the power but almost broke down and shed a tear every time I went to fill it. It had a long range tank @ 120 lt but when I go to work I was only doing about 300 k's per week. It would cost $70 approx. and that was when fuel was at 84 cents per lt. 8O It cheesed me off in the end when I could'nt go anywhere on the weekend cause it would cost me hundreds

I then came across a Td5....love every minute and every 10 or so days fill her up which currently cost $100 or there abouts.

It's a much better vehicle than a Series I with more options and safety features..it will pay for itself :!:

Consider the cost of an LPG conversion and factor that into the equation 8)

I had a V8 and now have a 98 Disco 300TDi , towing a trailer most days was a factor and the Tdi does it better and cheaper.
I am so impressed with my 98 Disco that I'm buying a 7 seater TD5 for the missus (we have another child coming and require a 7 seater) best excuse for an upgrade and she loves to drive my Disco.

LR Disco auto V8 goes like a bullet, if you put the foot into it, which I do and I'm country running at 16.6l/100km. Fue l is cheap, or you could buy a Daewoo......GQ

I went for a drive in a Daewoo once.... never again.

Have you ever tried to get Daewoo to wash off your hands? And it stinks!

You need some kind of super degreaser....

Can't find the link to it, but I think Matbor created & posted it.

I've got a copy of it downloaded to my computer, but I'm not sure how to upload it. I could email it to you if you like.
