The testimonials on thier site seem very good, I'm going to try to find some locals using the system to make sure (can't hurt)

Lanolin is magic stuff - I use it on my boat a lot and it is way better than anything else comparable

Some how I reckon it will be the lanatec and extra-coat that does the work not Erps, as for the paint protection just polish it before and after.

Considering how much bs is spread about Rovers I'm getting a little concerned about how many people seem to be jumping to conclusions about this :?

It seems the same as the old don't get a rover they always break down/break crud that seems popular amongst many so called "experienced" off-roaders... I generally find those remarks come from people who want to sound like they know the subject and heard someone elses comments, so took them onboard witthout thought...

A few of you have made very negative remarks about erps, have you ever used it? If so are you certain it's not the fact that it was a cheap brand that you used? Do you drive on salt often? If not how can you be aware of how effective any given rust prevention solution is in that environment?

I hope this wasn't too antagonistic and that anyone takes offence, I really am confused about some of the comments made. It doesn't seem to match what I've heard from any experienced beach drivers and there's a lot around here.

If I have overstepped the mark here I apologise most profusely. However I have to warn I'd do the same again if I think a remark is flippant, and I'd hope anyone here would pull me up if I did the same myself :wink:

Maybe I'm wrong but I put these in the same box as Fuel stars and Hyclones, you can buy a lot of lanotec, tectyle or fisholene for the type of money they want and then they say oh and you still want some lanotec and underseal and paint protection as well. If it worked like they reckon why do you still need to rust proof it and as for making the paint shine. Any way enough of that. The was a mate of dads at Pottsville beach, Stan Hardy, Stan was professional beach wormer, he had a ser3 shorty that was on the beach at least twice a day it's entire life. Stan used to spray it inside and out with engine oil every 6 months, clean the windows drive it for a week than wash it with hot water and kero. the thing had no rust after years of use, it died before it rusted.

I too am uncertain of the Hiclone as I've heard first hand varying reports and as such the jury is still out for me on that.

Re the erps I have heard first hand from enough people (over the last few days) that they have found them exceptional, the only exceptions I have heard of are ones that haven't been installed properly. One hire car business owner I spoke to yesterday uses only the erps and found them very effective, although he also told me he tried the cheaper versions and they were useless - It seems quite clear to me now.

The other measures such as lanoline are obviously effective too, and as such I think I'll go the whole hog as it's a cheap alternative to having a rusted out car you can't drive or sell.

Stan's method sounds brilliant! I tried a similar version using the oil spray offered by a local hire car mob before I hit Fraser for the first time in my last Landcruiser, I also had it sprayed with an industrial gurney, put it through a 4wd underbody and body wash, plus stripped it down and karchered out the entire car, sprayed it with lanogaurd after drying thoroughly and the thing still rusted to bits in 12 months!

Stan did the whole car which obviously made a big difference - although there's no way I;m doing that with my Disco! (hey nothing wrong with wanting it pretty too!) [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]

Well I'm going to start with the Lanotec. I've been talking to a fiend who wors in industry, and they have found it to be remarkable stuff. I may look at ERPS later. My father was a chemist who specialised in corrosion, and I'm sad I didn't get to ask his opinion on these things before he passed on . :cry:

Anyway, I've got a new car and I've got to protect it. I always swore I'd do this before I took the car to the beach. However I didn't bank on driving through salt lakes that had turned to mud in the simpson :roll: :roll:

I quite impressed that Land rover have a 6 year corrosion warranty which sounds pretty good. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

I forgot to mention one of the big reasons why I figured it's worth me buying the erps too - I do believe they work (have seen the results on hire cars) and knowing that I can also move the system to my next car/s if need be (hey I might pick up a cheap Discovery 3 before I leave this mortal coil) [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]
