I'm using the 7" Boost Alloy standard on the Extreme. I do believe the turning circle is compromised slightly but I'm not sure as I had the BF's put on by the dealer before delivery.Quote:

Then I have another set 15x8" with 32"mongrels on for play
These tyres are fun both in the bush and around the city in the wet
I would put BFG Muds on . May cost more but last alot longer (so in the end they end up cheaper).Quote:

The Defender does daily driver road work as well as bush trips with the LR club and a couple of trips to the beach each year.
So the main question is - would Mud Terrain tyres be any good on a daily driver ? Perhaps someone with direct experience could comment on the effectiveness of say BFG or Cooper MT and or AT tyres on road, sand and mud/rock.
This is a decision that I would appreciate input on, as its a big investment for 5 tyres !!

They are ok in the rain (belive me i live in the Uk) and grip well. Make a lowley nosie when you lock them up too. Thousand time better in the rain than Simex and Firestone SATs
The only thing i would say is to make shore you have a loud radio as you will need it as they are noiser than the AT or normal road tyres
Has anyone had both BFG AT's and MT's on a Defender that could comment on the relative road noise of both. Is the MT that much worse ? I'm already half-deaf just from the usual transmission, engine and miscellaneous noises I already get. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]
We have BFG AT on the misses 90 and i don't really notice the road noise. and still handles well and does not sound too bad at 140kph but the muds are a bit more winey. Not as bad as some others , but you can sit on a bench out side a pub and tell what tyres a land rover has that is driving done the road. if they are mud or AT. But then Simex are on a totally differant level againQuote:

We are driving around Aus in the misses 90 and that has AT and we are going to leave them on and not put MT as they will not be comfortable for that sort of distance.
In fact it goes in for two new tryes on the front this week before it gets put in the container

My adivce would be use AT unless you are mud plugging all the time or you are getting stuck on AT then go MT. But if you have never really had a problem with AT then stick with them.
I have had on defenders over the years, Firestone SAT,s , BFG At, BFG MT, Simex Extreme Treckers,
And i think if it is a dailey driver then go for AT as they are really good for all round, and behave on the road and don't embrases you off road. Hence why we are keeping them on the misses 90
