That would be a good swap, i did see pics of an isuzu D1 somewhere but not sure what gearbox it had.
Has anyone fit an lt85 from a county into a disco1? Just looking into it for an Isuzu conversion, and gear stick location is a concern

LT85 are not very strong in 5th and prone to failure because of the use of ball races instead of taper runner races.
If you are considering LT85 why not consider R380 conversion, the Disco stick is in the correct position and are recommended by both KLR for 4BD1 and Ashcrofts consider the late suffix R380 a similar strength to the LT85 Ashcroft Transmissions
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Have two lt85's was the reason, but he may offload them for the r380 me thinks. Now is there a difference in the r380's? As in disco and defender, v8 and 300tdi etc...
Yes there are differences, particularly with the position of the stick (Defender Vs Disco RRc) and the V8 has a higher 5th gear. Ashcrofts also do uprated rear layshaft and mainshaft bearings which would be advisable for the 4BD1.
You also want the late suffix box (suffix L - Disco II) not the earlier suffix J box.

So is there a difference between diesel ones and v8 ones? From memory input shaft. And which one do klr use.
Have a diesel on and a v8 one to choose from thats all.
You should have a chat to KLR. 0412 180 474.
The V8 is the easiest to convert, but it will also depend upon which stick you want. The post 86 RRc (the EFI V8s) have the short stick so a V8 RRc or Disco R380 box will suit the internal trim best.
Do you have a truck engine or a Land Rover 4BD1 (at least still have the Landy flywheel/flywheel housing available)?

Have v8 disco r380 so will use that and mod the lt85 bellhousing. Have a whole county to use for parts and the conversion with a landy 4bd1 and lt85
I can't believe that you are even contemplating fitting either of those two behind a 4bd1T. Do you need the practice pulling gearboxes in and out???
