    Noisy snorkel

    Gday all

After some pearls of wisdom. Fitted a safari snorkel to my isuzu county and now have as much induction noise thru snorkel as I do exhaust (exhaust noise in stereo now). I have a 2 and a half inch exhaust with free flowing mufflers (if that makes any difference).

Looking for ways to quiten it down a little anyone have any suggestions or come across this before? I realise a turbo (?) would do this mmmmm.

    Thanks in advance

    Luke

not much you can do about the induction roar.
What type of air cleaner are you running ?
When I had a K&N, it was bloody noisy through the snorkel. After I wised up and fitted a Donaldson paper element with the plastic spinner pre-cleaner fitted to it, much quieter.
The only other thing that would quieten it down is use a Donaldson type pre-cleaner on top of the snorkel.

I noticed in the cabin that my Disco (with snorkel) was much louder than Ace's (without).

I sometimes wind the windows and turn the stereo down to hear that music.

I am running a Donaldson paper element with the plastic spinner pre-cleaner fitted to it, I replaced it when I fitted the snorkel.

I sometimes wind the windows and turn the stereo down to hear that music.
Now theres an idea, can't hear the stereo anyway.

Thanks for the advice so far, anyone else?

    Cheers

Try spinning it either 180*, or 90* so the ram is facing the window. May help with noise dispersion? ops:
May even be a possibility that it is trying to suck more air than the snorkel allows? Don't know how much Isuzus need.
4.2 turbo diesel nissans (modded) NEED 4'. The standard safaris / airteks dont supply enough air.
