Thread: Would it fit?

I'm looking at 285/75/16 tyres, some manufacturers recommend an 8" rim, others say they will fit onto a 7" rim ok too.

What's the thought around here? If I had a 7" rim would I be a silly bugger to fit a 285 to it? I'm looking for a set of 16" rims for my P38 but all that seem to be for sale are D2 rims of 7" width!

The price is right, just not the rim width...

Yes they will fit, but the tire will not be able to operate at its best, The ideal for that size is 8". They will tend to wear the center of tread more as the tire is not running quite flat on the road .There are 16 x 8 D2 rims around , just not as common as the 7s which were standard fare.
