    Volt meter tap in point

I'm losing about 1.3 Volts between volt meter and battery. Currently tapped into live feed from behind mud pod under ashtray ( defender 300 TDI) any suggestions on best feed point other than direct from battery.

Under what conditions? All accessories on? No accessories on? What do you compare it to? Is your voltmeter that you are installing accurate? What does your "live feed" feed?

Mine is hooked up to radio acc wire. Simply because it was most convenient at the time.

Standby for gurus suggestions but give bit more detail on the problem. It may be underlying wiring fault and not voltmeter pickup point.

Shows voltage drop all conditions lights on or off. definitely a pick up issue. For example Multi meter off battery showing 14.3 V engine running , multi meter on analogue volt gauge 13.3V . Plug in led volt meter that fits in cig lighter socket. same issue.
Battery Fully Charged, all leads checked for tightness, two earth straps fitted and checked. New 100 amp alternator fitted less than a week ago due to dropped winding. Baz

What about when you measure with multimeter on same points where you pickup for analogue voltmeter? If voltage is different when measured at same points then your analogue voltmeter is not accurate, assuming that your multimeter is, judging by the 14.3 reading while engine running.
