    V8 Block decking

    Intelligent ballpark figures please.
    If a block was decked enough for the stamps to dissappear, what would be the amount?

    .004" seems to do it. Just checked on a receipt from an engine build last year. Numbers went, then different numbers mysteriously reappeared!

    Make sure the numbers are reapplied. When mine was decked, they had to be redone. However, that block looks to be an old one. Late blocks like the P38A and I assume the D2 were much more neatly done in dot matrix style (see mine below):
