Defender Rear Bars, Protection for the sides and rear

I'm getting excited and making all these cool things....
So this week i started on the Rear bars.

I wanted a rear bar setup that bolts to the existing grab handles that are on the rear cross member.
So as i have a swing away i needed to work around that one also.

Anyhow it is constructed from 42mm black pipe and wraps around the corner of the rear to protect a knock from the side and it protects the rear. This means i will have less chance of body damage and rear damage.
It utilises the existing bolt holes for the grab handles and looks smart when its on.

It also bolts to the same spot the mud flap bracket bolts to.

I'll post more pix when i have painted it.

I'll paint it in the next week and then bolt it up... and then post more pix...

Note this took me about 15 hours to make so far, so dont ask me to build you some...... buy the ones from Paddock Spares for $200 pounds....

Did you trim your 1/4's and make them 90* to the body? or leave them angled?

This will be one protected Defender 8)

Thats why the lift is only going to be 50mm and rims are only 7"

If it was a $5000 rig then i'd say bugger it, but fender still fetch good Smackers so i have to keep it orig...

If all panel work is standard that that answers my question.
I cut my rear 1/4 panels so they were straight and not angled to the ground if that make sense.

    They will look good.
