I'm led to believe that places that do aftermarket/special tailshafts will also do balances. Rebuild your front shaft, take it to them ( see Yellow pages) and get it re-balanced. They'll figure out the best position.
Paying for the pro's to do it seems sensible since the tailshaft balancing machine looks like an oversized lathe.
