[quote=Vida]Okeydokey, I had another look under my LR and found the socket (part # YPC114850) I was looking for. Just next to the fuel tank on the driver's side.

I do not know how much the appropriate plug (part # PC114860) will cost. I will just cut off the socket and extend the wires to my aftermarket trailer plug.
As far as I could figure it out this is the colour coding:
[list]Grey/Black: Left Indicator
Red/Black: Left Light
Grey/White: Right Indicator
Red/Orange: Right Light
Grey/Purple: Break Lights
Purple: +
Grey/Brown: Reversing Light
Red/Yellow: Fog Light
Black: Earth[list]
I'm really confused. I just had a look in exactly the same place as in your photo... definately no plug. Maybe they dropped them from later models, and my original information was correct ? :?: :?:

Hi I strip and rebuild defenders as part of my job and havnt come accross a late defender without this plug. they are usually as per photo on the previous post but on occasions are tucked up behind the body support that goes over the filler neck. although all the vehicles I work on are UK or German spec I wouldnt have thought they would change it for australia. Landrover seem to keep everything as a standard

A question on the trailer tell tale lamp. I have a (newly aquired) 2000 TD5 disco, and the tell tail lamp flashes when ever the direction lamps do, even with out a trailer on. Is there a quick fix or somewhere to start looking?

It probably means that the lamps in your bullbar have bulbs that are too big

Yes my 2001 discovery does the same. My previous 1997 defender did this but only after I had the bull bar fitted.
It's something to do with the load on the indicator circuit, nothing to worry about. I guess Rover put the dash light there to let us know that we are towing a trailer - as if we don't know anyway

how its supposed to work is......
when you hook up the trailer....the extra load from the indicators on the
trailer will cause the light to flash.....
if one of the bulbs on the trailer is blown....there will not be enough current
draw to cause the warning light to flash.....
hence letting you know you have a globe out on the trailer.....
the extra globes which are fitted to the bullbar do exactly the same thing....
