    Carburettor mounting orientation??

    Hi all,

I'm in the later stages of a ground up rebuild of a 1957 Series I, 109" tray back. When I acquired it, some one had retro fitted a 2 1/4 petrol out of a 67 IIA into it.

Not original, I know, but at least it's a Land Rover motor. When I test fitted the rebuilt motor back into the chassis, I realised that the Strongberg carby had been impacting into the underside of the bonnet. So, out came the Zenith, and it does sit lower in profile than the Strongberg. But. I can't get the orientation of the carby right, with the mounting adaptor plates that I have.

When the carby is sitting on the manifold, the throttle linkages face the inside of the guard? Is there more than 1 adaptor plate style available?

Ideally, could some one send me a couple of pictures of a similar set up? That would be a great help.

    Any and all comments appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Daz

Idealy the fuel bowl must be towards the front of the car.
Does the carby (strongberg) not fit the manifold with out the adapter but then the bowl would face the r/cover .
Also alot of people flatten the air cleaner pipe above the carby slightly to reduce clearance issues

The adaptor plate that is under the Stomberg needs to go under the Zenith.
