Authorised LR Dealers too!!
Those who've read my earlier tirade about the efforts of the Darwin LR Dealer, might recall I mentioned another poor victim of their incompetence. His story, if you're interested:
This chap, who happens to be staying in the same caravan park as us, has a new Disco III TDV6 and was in need of it's first service (at 20,000 km!). So he books it into the local (and only one for about 1500km) LR dealer and arrives at the appointed time three days after booking in.
We're both sitting in the customer 'lounge' when his is driven in just after mine. It sits in a service bay for about half an hour but neither if us see it raised on the hoist as one would expect for an oil change. It's driven back out and 15-odd minutes later, a female service receptionist (didn't the blokes have the guts?) is sent in to explain to him, "Because it's so new (He's had it since April...), we don't have any oil filters or the correct oil for it. But we've checked all the oil levels and they're OK.
Receptionist, "Perhaps you can get it done in Katherine." I pipe up, "There's no LR dealer in Katherine, the nearest one's in Alice Springs". Receptionist, "Are you going that way?" Customer, "No, we're going to Qld." Receptionist, " What about Mt. Isa, then?" Me, "There's no dealer in Mt Isa anymore, either." This gentleman takes it all very well and he and his wife leave.
What sort of incompetent cretins are we dealing with here? 1. They had three full days to discover that they didn't have the parts and oil to service this vehicle, but did they call him and tell him? 2. Why doesn't an authorised dealer have an oil filter for a models that's been on sale for about six months?
I dearly love our Disco but I despair at the continuous stupidity and incompetence I see from Land Rover Aust and their dealers... I fear the future of the marque, in this country at least, is going to be quite short.
