A stronger Rotoflex possibility.

FWIW, the original RotoFlex in my '95 Classic lasted around 200K before the deep cracking panicked me...

Previous owner(s) #1. never took it off the tarmac, and #2. lived on/over/through beaches.

The rubber had that age-related appearance, more than extreme flexing.

My sons replaced it.... so I suppose I should get under and check the arrows.

One of them is a Service mechanic...:o

I think I have been bolting my coupling on the opposite way. The tailshaft spins anticlockwise I think and so I always assumed the power should go through the thick section which it is not in the pic above.

With the crown-wheel on the left side of the car (& pinion gear), the tail-shaft has to turn clockwise looking at the diff flange to make the car go forwards. Besides, the engine turns clockwise looking at the front.

Graeme, on a totally different topic, do you know of anywhere in Australia you can buy a 5v voltage clamp?
The boost box I have connected to the map is overcompensating and is clamping the voltage too low. I want a voltage clamp that I can adjust. I already have one on the maf that I got from the US but they charge a fortune for freight.

I thought this sort of equipment might be known to you.

Adam, I think as long as the arrow on the side of the rotoflex is pointing to a flange and not away from a flange then you'll have it on the right way.

Can you see the individual components in the boost box?

So, dragging this back up, has anyone gone with the HD Rotoflex?

I put in a retoflex from a BMW M3. Its identical but 5mm thicker. 2 years later it's still going strong.

I'm also hoping the slightly stiffer rotoflex will reduce/eliminate the slightly disconcerting 'spring' effect of the stock rotoflex when the clutch is locked up and you feather the throttle, accelerate and feather in the twisties.
It fells like it soaks up the drive a little and then 'unwinds'.
