waterstains on black paint

Hi guys
Black Betty has waterstains, brobably from a borewater sprinkler. They didnt come off with a mild polish,Im not wanting to use a cutting polish unless as a last resort, any other ideas?????
I looked a CLR,but it sounds nasty, its an acid, and at $12 a bottle I would like to know it works before buying it.

Sorry to hear mate.. bad news. I'm afraid that in my experience a fine cut and polish will be necessary

If it was me, I'd use meguires fine cut and my buffer on slow. Do a little bit and see how it goes. Being black you'll then have to do a swirl remover as well. And a polish

It should look schmick after all that attention though.

I have tried wax/grease remover didnt work.It actually doesnt look too bad, unless you look up real close. My bro does a bit of spraypainting and such so he may be put in charge of buffing it down.

Cut it with a waffle pad and try a swirl remove first up like Meguires swirl remove or 3M perfectit these are super fine and won't hurt the paint. Never use lambs wool on 2 pack just foam and a waffle pad is best as they give a very fine finish on dark colours. If the swirl removers don't work get some get some Ferecular G3 and water it down, use sparingly, followed by one of swirl removers or Ferecular G10.

The citroclean and strong variations of citric acid make great paint strippers too.

Tell me if you do give CLR a go I was thinking of using it for the dreaded dripping door-screw rust.

I would have thought that if it is a calcium stain it wouldn't be impossible to remove, not like it sinks in or anything, more like it scales on the surface.

Cheers

Hi Simon
You are dead right,it looks like "scales" basicaly just the outline of the droplet where it evaporated.
My mrs tells me she has an "Enjo" product for removing waterstains from glass,I will give that a go.
