    Fuel Tank Leak

    Hi,
    my TD5 Disco has a fuel leak when I fill it right up.

    The fuel appears to come out of the top of the tank and run down both sides.

    When 3/4 full no problem. On the Rave CD I can only see the fuel pump and a breather.

    Has any one got any ideas?

    I was going to pull out the back seats and look at the fuel pump and see if the seal is leaking or the breather is leaking or has a hose off.

    I figure the fuel pump is ok because it is only when full.

    Has any one come across this problem and or have any suggestions?

    Chances are its a loose hose fitting or split hose.

    8) i had a leaking fuel tank in my v8 disco, and i presume the tanks are the same. my leak was like yours, only leak when full. i dropped the tank out and found the leak was the breather return hose back to the filler neck on the body, [about 1 inch diameter] it was only in need of tightening.
    there is no way of getting to this without dropping the tank completly, in my case that meant tow bar off also.
    you will need to undo the breather hose at the filler end and drop it off with the tank.

    Does this not come under the recall Landrover were issueing on Tanks only 6 months ago??

    8)if they're going to do a recall on mine don't let them stop at taking the tank - there's a few other issues with it, but then it was born '95

    Ive just had my 95 range rovers fuel tank recall done. Not shore what the exact problem with the tank is, the agent couldnt tell me eather.
    I had the same problem, when full it dripped petrol from the top of the tank some ware.
    Good luck. Dont let that exhaust get to hot.
