diff lock not disengaging
Hi all,
I have a 130 crew cab, manual 96 mod but new to me. When coming up to the lights in neutral and rolling slowly it feels like there is wind up in the front diff,
It also happens when going slowly in reverse, and on the gravel the front wheels momentarily lock up.
Has any one experienced this or now any thing about it
thanks in advance
Regards

Hi
Sorry if this is the completely obvious, I'm thinking of changing my username to ASQ for another stupid question.
Have you checked if the diff lock is off/on? Jack the front or the back, chock the wheels on the ground, park brake off, see if the raised wheels turn. engage diff lock and give the wheels a spin again.
Also check for mud up in the tunnel around the transfer case if the truck's done a lot of mud work it could be chocka up there and be stopping your transfer lever from engaging fully.
Cheers
Simon.

The best way to check if the diff lock is on is to jack up the wheels and try and turn them
To get it out of diff lock . The first things to try is driving down the road and put your foot down on the load peddle and then take it off quickly and let the engine brake. This usually knocks it out
Or reveres around in a circle this will get it out.
If you have transmisson wind up and this could cause it to stop you getting it out. Jack up two wheels, one on each axel and turn the engine on and spin the wheels in first gear. Its ok the truck won't move anywhere
This should fix the problem. If they don't then play with the stuff under the tunnel. But we will get to that later.
