A few years ago I had a 4BDI dual cab 110 county with a Toyota auto bought from Dave Benson in Tassie. It had of course been converted to a dual cab and was owned by a Toyota dealer who put the auto in and it was an absolute dream to drive just a bit down on power-- if I had kept it a turbo as done by KLR would have transformed it--wish I still had it but it went to Mudgee area. It had a disc brake handbrake and ran in 2wd normally so could be fun on a wet road and 4wd was engaged by using the centre diff lock knob. would love to do one again like this.
Thanks for all the info and advice guys. I've been following the Svengali0 adventure with some interest, and for the short term, that has decided me to rebuild the 300TDI. That decision made -my neighbour enquired after the health of 'the Dray' the other day. Turns out his brother is a Rover nut who rebuilds engines....
I very much like the concept of swapping a Station Wagon body onto a Perentie. An elegant solution. For the kinds of things I do though, I'm thinking a 4 door 130 would suit me better. -With an Isuzu. But then, for me the ultimate off roader is..... well go to u tube and check out "The Highlander (Super STOL) Smackdown :: Ohio Bush Planes" ([ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ccYFqY4Ymg[/ame])
So many things to do ! I'll start with repairing Dray No 6. :0)
ah yes the Storch FI 156 and its derivatives....lovely machine. Imagine sitting in an aircraft in light wind - stationary at low revs. Who needs off road when you have STOL. Hergestellt von Deutschland.... Even the copies are copies of this machine...
