    300Tdi Water Pump

I replaced the water pump on the Disco today and while doing the swap I noticed some differences in the old one (possibly OE) and the new replacement one (Flow Pro brand) I got from a LR parts specialist/supplier in Brisbane. A bit of searching led me to various posts of people saying to stay away from the aftermarket pumps in the blue box and with round/circular pulley mounts (round pulley mount water pumps being Chinese supposedly, though my box said it was a UK product).

Mine came in a blue box, has a circular mount instead of triangular, and has a steel impeller that's quite different than the cast bronze (?) one on the one I took off. My question is how screwed an I? Is this thing going to fail on me in the next few thousand K's??

Here are some pics I snapped of the two side by side.

Then I wonder why the one I pulled out had that odd cast impeller. It must be an aftermarket one but I can't see why they'd make it like that.

Avoid Brit Parts, good to know. Let's hope this one here won't be another blue box to avoid.

Bit of relief though knowing I didn't buy a pump that is definitely crap.

To be brutally fair not everything britpart is rubbish, I was told by a landrover specialist that britpart get loads of suppliers in the same bin and give them all the same part number, some of them are good, some not so much, and there's no way of telling before you buy, as a rule avoid if it has moving parts.

Wouldn't trust their water pumps though

Agreed, anything with moving parts is to be avoided.

Do you mean parts that move even though they shouldn't or parts that should move but don't?
