The only experience I've had was with the Tunit plug in power upgrade.
(No actual chip, just a plug in device betweeb the ECM and the injectors.)
Is this what you're after?
Hello everybody,
Has anyone out there had any experience (good or bad} with a Tunit chip upgrade on a TD5 Defender 110.
regards
John

Only knowledge i know of them is they work in the GU 3.0lt Patrol, i was talking to a guy a couple of weekends ago about his Tunit and the power differance it made to the Patrol, he seemed to be happy with it.

Cheers Baz.

That could be it Siegucci, It was reccomended to me in conversation as an upgrade but could be an add on. What was it like please, I need a bit more low down torque for towing a caravan.
Thanks for the replies.

I came across a few Defenders with this unit fitted. The unit is a plug in unit. It goes between your ECM and injectors and basically ammends the injector pulse to increase the amount of fuel.
Under full load the vehicles went like rockets but with heeeeps of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. The other thing I didn't like about it was the fact that the plug in unit works like an on and off switch. Depending on thottle angle and engine speed the unit kicks in or out which made it really uncomftable to drive because it kicked in and out at about 60km/h. That means when you drive normally the vehicle starts to jerk and surge. Because the unit is external it does not have the ability to calculate engine load and speed ect. and therefor give you a smooth acceleration like a chip upgrade does.
If you want a serious power upgrade which actually works and does not affect the "normal" driving of your vehicle you should give Bruce Davis a ring.
Hope this helps
Rene
