If you are talking about the standard one we have in the uk, they are crap and made a bake been tins. Week as crap
Need a proper metal (winch style bumper thicknest) one

However, I have mounted a front tow hitch which I put on for driving the caravan around the yard. It is a Hayman Reese tube, ($$$$), attached via a heavy gauge welded "u" section which is then bolted through the chassis where the lashing point and steering protection bar is secured. Behind the "fake" jacking point rubber cover is a plate and welded spiggot which is inserted into the jacking point to take the ball weight of 150 kg's. I also have a block drilled out which can be inserted into the tube to take the jack if I need it.
You could think of using this or a similar idea to mount your recovery point.

Here are pics of some JATE rings that I just installed for this purpose on my 90. There are two models. A standard one, and a wide one that can fit over steering guards. These are genuine Land Rover parts. The part numbers are (standard RRC3237) and (wide ZXC9435). These had to be brought in from the UK and were under $100 for the pair without bolts.

Just curious why everyone feels the need to remove/blank the number plates in images.

Not trying to cause an argument but I dont understand :?

The plate on the vehicle is seen by thousands of people each day.
Whats the difference when people see the actual vehicle and its 'features' in a posting as opposed to spotting the number plate :?:

For example above, a bright yellow 90 with a front hitch, I think I'll pick that out in traffic :wink:

Yeah, I got the steering guard from Anthony. I'm not sure if they are bringing more in. Their email address is british4wd@bigpond.com.

As for obscuring the plates, I don't want any more of my information floating around the internet than absolutely necessary.
