    Cheers Dave!
At that stage would oil be coming out of the diff pretty quick in normal use? Or probably just with the temp change?

Nononono. Nothing to do with oil leaking. The differential pinion flange has a rotating tin shield that prevents direct impact of rocks and grit into the rubber seal. When you drive through dirt laden water some sand gets washed in between the tin shield and the seal. A short amount of driving usually flings out the dirt without any issues.

Awesome, every days a school day eh! I never knew that, thanks and makes logical sense and fits the bill perfectly. I have my fingers crossed that is it.
