The Belkin unit we had ran off 2 AAA cells. Not sufficient output power to overcome breakthrough from the radio stations on the same channels.
I won't buy another.

Mate there is a Land Rover CD stacker on ebay ATM
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Eurovox-6-Stack-Cd-...1QQcmdZViewItem
Mick
Mine came without the stacker, but the wiring was in place so I suspect that somewhere along the line it had been removed by dealer , previous owner etc.
I looked at getting a stacker as it would have been an easy solution to just plug in and go but given the quality of the original head unit (standard fittment eurovox) and location of the stacker under drivers seat  I opted to replace the head unit with one that could play mp3's as well as cd's this gave me the option to load a cd full of mp3's that gave more tracks than a stacker.
The bonus was the quality of the sound is much better, it is easier to scan through the disk and the unit seems to be skip proof, Ive had it on some very corregated roads and quite a few big jolts and its never missed a beat and it only cost me what I was looking at to get a stacker to suit the original system.
My unit is a Kenwood that I got fro WOW sight and sound for $257 and I am more than happy.

Is the Sony a straight swap for the standard stacker? I used to work for a car audio company that made adapter cables for Eurovox radios plus a bunch of others. We used to use Denon and Kenwood stackers but then turned to Sony when they stopped making the others. Other cars such as Ford used Alpine stackers. They were all the same inside. No idea what we used to charge for the cables but they sucked to make.Originally posted by Bradtot
Hello Lyndon
The eurovox will cost app 200 to fix as all 5 switches need replacing. This is a common fault with the eurovox and the sony equivalent. The eurovox is a rebadged sony CDX55.
I repair these for a living
They are a very very good unit and this is really the only thing that goes wrong except for when the laser dies.
Error 99 means mechanism jam for whatever reason, in your case due to the switches giving the micro false info and the micro acting on the wrong info jamming the whole thing.
I have had the sony/ eurovox in all my rangies but have just upgraded to a JVC DVD player as per Garry,s comments as on dvd mp3 disc plays a bloody lot of music and no skipping
The model I have is the KDXV1 which I got for $550.00 normally $1100 but I have seen them now for 750 at JB hifi.
I am still using 1 disc in it with heaps of music and its Bloody Great plus I have now more room in the back where the original stacker was, so as technology goes forward so things sometimes get better it all depends on what u want to do but do have a look at the dvdmp3 players

the answer to your question is yes straight swap...But I have come across a couple that would not play they loaded ok but not play turned out 2 wires in the loom for data were reversed on purpose . A adaptor lead is about 35 bucks but has to be made up

This was probably the leads we used to make. It was just a 13pin(???) DIN plug and socket with 2 wires reversed. We mainly used them in Statesmans and classy Commodores from memory. I suppose a few Landrovers came through. However I think we sold far more than we fitted.
Of all the leads we made the Euro leads were the biggest PITA. Especially when making a bunch of them at a time.
