all your problems started after you refuelled from the jerry can....

    Put in some new fuel.

    Seems to run fine.

Do I detect something common here??

    Well done Tony [/b][/quote]

All thanks to Zook for his help.

But, I don't call a problem fixed if you don't know what fixed it.

Seems to me that dirty diesel or diesel bug wouldn't present as a recurring cyclical problem, and that replacing the fuel filter would have made a significant difference.

So I'm not taking any long trips until I know what's going on.

Now if you want to PM me a sensible offer I'll be interested.

    Cheers

No trips at the moment, father in law who has lived with me for last 5 years is in hospital with kidney failure and is not coming home.

All of my exciting drives in the Landy are to the hospital and back.

I know that it's reasonably easy to bypass the lift pump, any idea of how to bypass injection pump?

    Cheers

Well, time to resurrect the thread.

Diesel ****ing out of the springy thing on the fuel injection pump.

Had just filled up with diesel and praying for contaminated diesel.

Mechanic said forget that, if even 5% petrol in diesel your head would be exploding instantly.

So, hoping for some new gaskets or that bloody fuel injection pump is coming out anyway.

Mechanic, of course, says got away with it on the last round of worries, this time you probably won't.

    Cheers
    Simon.

    There is a gasket $30.

The shaft had movement $$$$ Cha-ching.

Time for a new fuel injection pump.

    Or for a rebuilt.

    Bugger.

    Anyone have one laying about?

So, out it all comes, probably the timing belt at the same time, and everything else in the way.

    Cheers
    Simon
