Replacement 200tdi
Had a fuming 200tdi in my 1984 Ninety. OK off road and in country drives but down on power and not good around town. Taking off at lights leaving a trail of coughing bike riders behind me. Not a good example for the brand or me for that matter.
Replaced the timing belt and was told to get any power out of the engine the fuel needed to be set at the max. Decided to have it checked out and it came up as 23KW on the dyno. So looked for a replacement 300tdi but couldn't find one and purchased a recon. 200tdi long motor fromTriumph & Landrover spares in Adelaide.
A few months later & many $$$ poorer (including a new clutch plate), I was back on the road again this time with 33kws and still fumes, but not quite as bad. I am told the 200tdi is an 80kW motor at the flywheel, but to get over 30KW at the wheels is a hard ask. Apparently a 300tdi just over 40KW at the wheels. It this really correct?
Are there any other ways I can get more power out of the 200tdi like fuel pump or intercooler options?
Your thoughts and suggestions please?

So you had an engine that blew a heap of smoke and then replaced it with a motor that blows not quite as much smoke,is that correct?.Did you use the turbo off the ''old'' motor on the ''new'' motor?.300 Tdi's have around 55kw at the wheels with factory settings but all motor's loose power over time.
