snapped cable on 130 ute rear gate

Hi folks,
Here is a question for those out there that know a thing or two about defender 130s...

I have a HCPU and one of the two cables that support the rear gate when it is opened up has snapped - - it was very badly kinked with the nylon sheathing around the wire cable split too etc when I bought it and eventually it gave up the ghost. The other side is in perfect nick.

Does anyone know where to get one to replace it with or do you have any other suggestions?

I am in Sydney.

Cheers,
Cameron

Not familiar with the truck bit. But how about a short length of 6mm stainless cable with a swaged loop on each end .. or something similar?

Cheers

Mine don't have any nylon on them and look to be standard steel cable so maybe see a hardware store or visit your local stealer.

A ship chandler could make it with ss cable and fittings. Someone like Whitworths supply the bits.

But I suspect that like any thing to do with boats it will cost twice as much as would be a fair price.

Sorry mate,

The only solution is to take off the whole tub and pass it along to me.

I've got a 6x6 steel tray on the back and wish I had a hcpu.

Boating shop or stainless steel place will do the whole lot. That's probably the cheapest way to do it unless you've got a mate who owns a swaging tool.

They should also be able to put eyelets onto the ends as well.

Cheers
