    Electric fuel pump

My stage 1 has a Facet fuel pump attached to the chassis rail under the seat box. When the ignition is turned on, should the pump run until it gets to pressure and then stop? (That is how the electric pumps on my 86" and Moke work.) The pump on the Stage 1 just runs continuously and the engine will not start without some Aerostart help. It appears to be flooding and I am wondering if there is a seal gone in the carby somewhere and the pump has nothing to pressure up against??

    1. Facet pumps run continuously using a transistor oscillator to retract the pump piston a few times a second. They cannot run over pressure because the spring behind the pump plunger is what generates the pressure. When the carby fills up the plunger simply travels less distance and gets a little quieter.

    2. If Aerostart makes it go it isn't flooded unless your petrol has gone off due to extreme age. More likely your choke isn't working correctly. They should start on full choke, no accelerator.

    Thanks Bee utey.
I've taken out the gas system as part of my refit. Can the hoses that ran from the mixer(??) on the bulkhead to the carby just be capped off? The throttle and choke cables were also disconnected as part of the refit so I'll have a play to see how their adjustment affects the starting issue.

Any idea what this bottle may have done? It sits on the RH guard and the tube from it T's into a breather tube from the carby to the rocker cover.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Chris.
That is a upper valve lube system used on leaded engines converted to LPG.Not required on a hardened valve ULP engine.Look up Flashlube.
