    Sticking stuff to windscreen

My camera was stuck to the windscreen with double sided tape. A real good adhesive patch that was excellent.
The windscreen has been replaced. The adhesive patch no longer works.
Any adhesives I have used have failed, usually due to the heat that builds up in the car on a sunny day.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what products would work?

You could try the glue kits they use for mirrors but make sure you get it right first time as that stuff will not let go! You can even pull a chunk of glass out of the windscreen with it! Bet you can't guess how i know that😟

I had similar problem as I transferred a camera to another car.
Ended up calling Dashcams Australia and they sent out a clamp with permanent stick on.

enter 'windscreen suction mount' into ebay and it comes up with lots of cheap options, universal ones, magnetic ones etc, might be something you can use there.

3M have a super duper strong double sided tape that should do the job!
It says something like Heavy Duty or hold 20 or 40kg or something on the packaging.
Can't remember it's been so long since I first got my roll.
Held the rear view mirror on my dads car for ages now .. had to do something about it there and then, with a view to fix it up properly one day.
Why fix something that's not broken now

I used it on the broken cheapo ebay mount I have for my 7" tablet, but inverted it to mount it to the dash top!
Bad move .. can't get the tape off the dash now due to the texture.
(this is on another car that's about to go!)
On glass tho, it should scrape off with some elbow grease if required too.

The cheapo ebay suction mounts all eventually fail.
I've had 4 now, and they all do.
    1. the suction cup get soft/hard from the sun
    2. the plastic joints become brittle and collapse.

Only mounts that don't seem troubled by years of sun on the screen, or heavy weights are RAM.
As a courier we used to have a cradle for our data devices. Big heavy ruggedised PDA thingy.
RAM mount never ever refused to hold this weight, other than if the screen spot was dirty and the suction cup couldn't bite.

I reckon I wasted at least $40-50 on cheapo ebay mounts, when I could've got a proper RAM mount for my 7" tablet for about $60 wayyy way back(as I should have)!!
Now I have a RAM mount for the D1 .. you only realise what an idiot you've been once the quality of the product has been truly realised.

    live and learn they say.

Those yellow stickers the people in blue hand out seem to stick well to windscreens.
Maybe next time they put the "lets talk" lights on ask them what glue they use.
Of course this is asuming the relationship hasn't changed since the daily driver was changed.
    Cheers, Kyle

If you want good double sided tape go to a shop that specialises in radio control cars.
