Good day all,
Can any body tell me where and how to tap into the head lights in order to connect the spot lights to work when I engage the High beams?
Thanks

That helps thanks, but I still have the question as to where to find the high beam wire?
Don't know how this will relate to a TD5 Disco but I picked up my feed for the relay coil from the highbeam fuse (Defender TDi300).
You may also be able to pick up from the headlight itself.
I'm assuming you are looking for somewhere to energise the relay coil from not power the driving light/s.

One of the easiest places to get access to it, is in the main wiring loom from the steering column to the dash. Drop down your access panel under the steering column and find this loom, which I think by memory has split black flexible conduit around it. The Wire you are after is a blue wire with a white stripe. It should be a little heavier than the majority of wires as it is a 1.5 mm wire where most of the others are 1mm. Test the wire with a test lamp or similar. Good Luck
[size=18]UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU USE A TEST LIGHT.
Hi Robbo and TheEntertainer, the use of a test light on ANY modern motor vehicle is tantamount to switching on a 240 volt AC light socket and putting your finger in the socket to see if it’s live.
The only way to test for a wire in 4x4s or any other vehicle is with a multi meter.
The reason for NOT using a test light any more is that for safety reasons, most of the air bag sensors are negative tripped and if you touch just one of these wires with a test light probe, you can trigger the air bag system and if you or anybody else is in the way, you get hit and if it’s in the head, YOUR DEAD.
There have already been a number of cases in the USA where people have used a test light, triggered the air bags and either killed themselves or killed someone assisting them.
Even knowing the correct coloured wire to look for does not rule out accidentally touching the wrong wire so protect yourself, chuck the test light away and use a multi meter
Good tip Drivesafe. I had never heard that before 8O . Even though mine doesn't have airbags it's probably a good habit to get into.

I picked up the high beam wire from just behind the headlight...... with a test light.ops:

Don’t worry about it Slunnie, most people are unaware of the hazard of using a test light on modern vehicles, including many people in the trade.
Hi Andrewpv01, thats a good way to put it, it is a good habit to get use to using a multi meter.
Cheers
