Hmm, no wonder I haven't seem him on eBay recently. He must have other things on his mind.
Before I settled on the 98 D1 I had been looking at an early D2. That vehicle had the dreaded 3 amigos, and so I enquired with TRS about a replacement ABS Module (in the worst case scenario that that was the problem rather than sensors, etc).
I seem to recall that they quoted me around $1500, but the interesting thing was that they said the replacement unit was best gotten out of a D3, and that would greatly reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
A wheel hub bearing that has excessive end-float due to wear can also be a cause of this.
It sends an error message recording air-gap error.
Trev.
A couple of things to try without needing your dealer.
Check out the Good Oil.
Ensure ignition is off!
1/ Behind the Left headlight between the Air Filter box, are two Earth points. These are for the ABS Modulator. Pull them off and clean them, then use a little Lanolin and refit them. There is another earth point inside on the left footwell for the SLABS computer. Do likewise to this.
2/ Remove the multi pin plug on the ABS module and clean both plugs with Contact Cleaner, fit it a couple of times to ensure your contacts are clean.
(There is a great section on checking continuity across these pins if you have the ability).
3/ Clean brake fluid makes a difference to these things, so if it has not been changed at proper intervals this may contribute.
Cheers

I have been successfull in repairing my modulator on my 99 disco and no more lights almost miss the cheerful little note and the three lights (only kidding) glad they no longer haunt the dash.
