    Diesel pump leak

    Hi everyone,

I have a beautiful LR Def '97 with an unfortunate leak.. it's the diesel pump. Does anyone knows a good mechanic in the Melbourne area? Since I think it's not a home job.

    Cheers,

    Kyra

what part of the pump is it leaking from?

the 2 normal leaks are only 3/5 spanners if you are methodical and can read instructions.

    Hi thanks for your responds,
I will send a picture later on, I'm not with the car now. It's the injection diesel pump, can see it leaking from the bolts.
    Cheers!

It's behind the bold you can see first. Leak is definitely coming out of that. Is it safe to drive you recon?

At first glance looks more like your problem is the lift pump not the IP

gently work the union nuts back and forth if one is loose tighten it up a little bit first.

If its leaking from those 4 bolts with the pipe that run to the injector lines the line that is leaking wont be injecting correctly and will be causing rough running.

if the leak is coming from the lift pump and dribbling down onto the Injector lines thats a different kettle of fish and is still an at home DIY.

I wouldnt want to drive it other than in an emergancy atomised diesel sprayed around the engine bay from a leaking injector line is only a while away from soaking the insulation and then its just a bit of grass a hot day and a hill climb off of engine fire.
