Tree trunk protector as an equalising strap?

Would using a tree trunk protector as an equalising strap between 2 recovery points be safe enough? D shackled at both ends with a shackle in the middle attached to either snatch, cable etc?

    Aye, Mick

I don't see why not apart from it not having any reinforcement in the middle. Oh and i'd ditch the shackle in the middle, just loop it through.

Agree with Pheeny, definately ditch the shackle in the middle, otherwise should be ok, some extra protection where the other strap joins wouldn't hurt for long term use, or you can buy specificaly made equaliser straps from Just Straps for around the $65 mark with the extra reinforcing inplace.

Thanks guys, i'll look into buying a specifically made strap as a reinforced middle would be better.

    Appreciate the input, Mick

The one I bought was labelled as equaliser strap/tree trunk protector. As was said above the only difference is the reinforcing in the middle. All the reinforcing is on mine is a loose sliding sleeve.

Also I bought mine just before the emporium started selling straps. I paid $69 from Opposite Lock, much cheaper here. 8O 8O
