Question Low Coolant Alarm, anybody know anything about this one??

With my Series 3 project I was given a Low Coolant Alarm kit in a box of new parts. It consists of a control unit (pictured), plus probe, warning light and buzzer.

I do not have a wiring diagram for it and a Google search returns nothing. The AETEC business on the unit I suspect is a retailer, who is no longer operating.
I suspect that it may come from the construction/mining industry?

Does anybody recognise this type of alarm unit and have any idea what wiring goes where?

    Thanks
    Chris

That seems like a lot of wires for what should be a basic sensor.

As sierrafrey says a pic of the sensor (and any model/part number if it has one written on the sensor) would be helpful.

pics of the buzzer and light might also be useful in identifying the part.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Actually you are in (some) luck.
I found that unit: GENR8, High Performance Auto Electrical

Product Summary: Coolant Level Warning Module 12/24V
    Voltage: 10-30VDC
    Connection Type: 6 Fly Leads,

    Wiring Legend;

    Red - Ignition Supply,

    Black - Earth,

    Blue - Probe,

    Brown- N.O. Relay Contact,

    Yellow - C. Relay Contact,

    Green - N.C. Relay Contact

Protection: Unit Is fully Potted In Epoxy Resin
    Overall Height: 22mm
    Overall Length: 65mm
    Overall Width: 32mm
Application: For Extra Heavy Duty Applications
Notes: Suitable for water based applications only, Slosh time to prevent false trigger, Hermetically sealed, failsafe circuitry, audible and visual warnings
If you click on 'parts' in the above link it should show the probe etc you have (or if you don't have it, that you need to pair with it)

It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    You're a superstar Vlad!!
I did spend ages googling and never found that product

Now I just need to work out how the NC/C/NO relay wires work? I presume that the unit feeds a relay that then drives the light and buzzer?

Here's a diagram which illustrates the C (common) Normally Open (NO) and Normally closed (NC) contacts, for a particular style of relay. I'm not sure what exact relay you'd need for this set up though, hopefully someone can come along and help with that.

    I GOT IT!
I was over thinking it (as usual), thinking that the coloured fly wires would be an input to an external relay. NO the relay is internal in the control unit and the coloured fly wires are the OUTPUT from the internal relay. The Yellow is the common and the green or brown used depending on whether you want a closed circuit when the probe is closed or open.

Another of the world's problems solved.
