    In the P38A, the accumulator is screwed into the brake pressure pump - unlike the classic where it is remote.

    Replacing it on mine fixed my brakes but that was different by the sound of it.

    On mine, the brakes would take up to 45 seconds to reach pressure. If I used the brakes before that, it felt like there was no boost and the car was bloody near impossible to stop. I'd knocked over a few garbage bins and hit a few fences when I'd tried moving the car before brake pressure was available.

    The accumulator has about 100 Bar (1500psi) or more pressure inside, so if the diaphragm split, I would think the nitrogen in the accumulator would pump brake fluid out of the reservoir.

    Ray says there's fluid over the accumulator. Unless it unscrewed, I can't see how that would happen unless fluid spewed out of the reservoir filler cap. (There was a recall for the filler cap to be replaced. Mine was done a while back but I don't know why.)

    Ray, is the brake pump running? You should be able to hear it. You can check how long it take for the brakes to reach full pressure by watching the red barke light on the dash. But the hand brake also operates this light so you'll have to release the hand brake for the test.

    1. Release the hand brake
    2. Start the car
    3. Time how long until the brake light goes off. It should extinguish in less than 45 seconds. If not, your brake pump or accumulator are probably shot.

    the ABS HANDBAKE TAC lights all stay on


    then pumped the brake pedal around 40times and still no pressure on it
