    Transmission ECUs

Other than the part numbers .

Does anyone have any information on the difference between the Transmission ECUs that are found in .

    Range Rover P38A Gems 4.0 and 4.6 V8s

    Range Rover P38A Thor 4.0/4.6 V8s

    Discovery 2 TD5 and 4.0 ,

All will plug in or interchange but some use different Numbers .

It's something similar with the engine ECUs, the hardware is the same but the software is differenet as each transmission ECU's ''transmission map" should match the fuel map of the vehicle... i can't go deeper but i've tried D2 V8 EAT ECU in a Td5 and it works differently... others made experiments too... there are guys who like it but depends very much on what versions are the EAT ECU and the engine ECU cos there can be many setups and some are working better some worst.... my knowledge about this ends here
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

    Thanks very much .

I did a search of the ECUs on retail sites and some say UHC000160 is a fit all as in D2 td5 and V8 also Thor P38A 4.0/4.6 , some were new and some were secondhand .

After your reply i put a bit more thought in and it dawned the Russian Microcat was probably were i should look .

Though the microcat doesn`t have all the part numbers because the pics on net show more .

I see from there why some of the differences , just using the D2 and Thor P38A .

LC and HC petrol , Diesel , TC and non TC , Cats and non Cats , GCC and Euro , Can/Mex/US , AU ETC .

The Thor petrol ECUs don`t differentiate between capacities but do between LC and HC .

    The D2 does between the 4.0 and 4.6 but not between comp ratios , but i don`t think there`s a LC 4.6 D2

I had read of the D2 4.6 and it having it`s own Transmission ECU but because i pressume it being a short run there seemed to be little to find .

Now with your help i know the ECU to be UHC500010 and having the right part and number is a very good start point to finding out more .
