Question Advice on Td5 maintenance please

I am heading down the CSR in Aug. and have decided to give my 02 defender xtreme a bit of a birthday.
    Currently compiling parts to replace;
    • Radiator
    • All coolant hoses
    • Fuel cooler repair kit
    • FPR repair kit
    • Cam cover gasket
    • Inlet manifold clean and new gasket

While I have the radiator out and Inlet manifold off is there anything else I should be looking at?

    140k on the clock btw.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

If you are doing all that I reckon you should do the exhaust manifold as well. Plenty of threads here about that, but in short, get it skimmed, de-webbed ( various schools of thought on that one ), studs and holes, and I reckon ceramic coated. You'll probably be doing it one day, so it may as well be now while you have it in bits.

Do these later engines have the injector wiring problem? I don't know, but someone will.

    Enjoy the trip!

    Thanks Chris,
I am carrying a spare fuel pump and I have the access hole cut and ready to go and I figure at 140k the water pump should have some life in it yet.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

Fan belt, if room allows carry a spare tensioner, re cam gasket many neglect the 13 grommets that seal the retaining nuts, they get brittle with age and are a source of leaks.
