Rear trailing arms on the Deefer/D1 are friction/resistance welded.
I have heard of things being friction welded by accident But this is something quite different.

Yep, the ends of the trailing arms on a RRC are friction welded on, as are the flanges on the front diff housing that the swivel balls bolt to.

						SupporterMany industries use this method. I have a mate in Indonesia that has a business doing it for oilfield drill pipes. He has it set up in a shipping container and goes to field locations to recondition the pipes. It is also used extensively in the plastics industry.
