1993/4 would be around the year they turned up i would think so a few more years could be added .

Engines with 10 bolt heads would have composite inlet ( other than Leyland 4.4 ) .

I`m not sure i get your drift .

There is a myriad of sellers .

Places like Brit Parts , Bearmach , Eurospares etc put their name on them but don`t produce them .

Fel-Pro make one but their stuff is blue .

Victor Reinz have their name on one it`s made by Dana . It uses a Dana part number .

Maybe i should have said i don`t know who supplies or makes the composite inlet gasket to Land rover .

If your meaning is related to prevalence of Brit Parts labeling in the Google search , i do get your drift .

I hear what you are saying - doesn't kill an engine though - however it does seem to be an issue for some people who have had delamination in their vehicles - as I said I have no personal experience with them just highlighting issues others have said - when I bought a gasket kit for my 4.0 it came with a tin gasket not the composite gasket.

No, I will not use Brit Parts as a gift. I have just ordered one from Rimmer Bros and they claim it is genuine Land Rover. It is substantially more expensive than a couple of others listed, so I presume it is genuine. Where Land Rover have them made is anybody's guess.

Thought it may have been subtlety for the failures .

Interested to read if the one you get is the black style or the crosshatched greyish ?

The gasket turned up today. It is black with longitudinal ribs in the valley area, and elongated mounting holes. Measures just over 0.030" thick.

Thanks for the reply and measurement .

Sounds like the last i got and told OEM .

I only have old used ones , on a part known OEM type the compressed surface between the heads and manifold are still usable , the area below the manifold open to the air has cracked and come unstuck and area inside the valley has become bloated and feathery looking though not cracked and the surface is covered but because it is sort of pin holed i`d think some has been lost .

We had the RR LSE that it came off for 10 years till 2016 i know the gasket was older than that and not original to the vehicle .

From this discussion and taking more notice i realise the composite OEM type like the Shim steel ones are very different to the Aftermarket type in some places .

One is the weight and feel the OEM types feel sturdy and are flexible but hold shape .

The Aftermarket types feel lighter and flimsy in comparison are flexible but don`t come back to shape by them selves .

When i think about it the only tin type that i have creased out of shape was Aftermarket and probably tin and not shim steel like the OEM ones but was long ago .

If you don`t mind garrycol ?

Was the first gasket that you creased or missshaped an Aftermarket tin type or an OEM shim steel type ?
