    Thor - Heated Throttle Body

The Thor 4.0/4.6 throttle body has a small inlet and outlet for coolant to pass through the base of the throttle body - given that the actual inlet manifold has coolant running through it, can anyone tell me why the throttle body needs to be connected to the coolant system. I cannot see that it would really provide any heating effect to the air.

    Thanks

The throttle body heater stops the throttle blade icing up in cold damp climates, e.g. Old Blighty. Not sure if you'd need it, even in Canberra, most people in Oz delete them when they start to leak. It's easy enough to plumb up into the hose from the front of the manifold to the radiator if you choose to.

I don't think it has anything to do with cooling the air. bee utey beat me to it!. Although icing can occur under the right conditions because of the cooling effect of the fuel.

Thanks for that - actually I have suffered carb icing in Canberra on a Subaru with a weber on it but not on any other vehicle I have owned. The throttle body is well before the spot where fuel is introduced into the system so any ice comes from the lowering of pressure when the air goes through the throttle body at low throttle settings on cold mornings.

Thanks - I wont bother connecting it and see how we go.

    Cheers

Lady Sarah's heating thingy was also blocked up. - Have no idea if it made any difference... Bypassing would mean two less leaking points.
