Tick-Tick-Tick...what the...?
It was dead quiet in the garage this morning. I was checking the oil in the Disco TD5 when I could hear a very faint ticking sound from somewhere in the motor. After much listening around I tracked it to the fuse box. When I opened the fuse box I listened carefully and found it was coming from the ABS relay.
I removed the relay, of course the ticking stopped, replaced it and it started up again after about 1 minute. I then pulled the ABS fuse and it stopped again but started up once the fuse was replaced. Everything functions normally as I worked the traction control and the ABS on a track in the Blue Mountains today.
Does anyone know if this is normal or could the relay be on the way out?
Cheers,
Jack

Don't know? Do you have a spare relay, or can you take one from something else and give it a go?

Relay changed but noise still there. It seems to be the same as 'cwebb' post on the ABS modulator making a noise.

When all is quiet ( engine/ignition off )I can usually here my ABS modulator making a sort of ticking moise. I was told that this is normal as the modulator is always sensing.
Your have to put your ear pretty close to it to hear it.
It would not suprise me then to here that the abs relay which is just a electronic/electrical switch clicking on and off
