can anyone give me a reason why the tie rod end

would be a no no? it doesnt touch anything the link lines up fine at 90 degrees but the books always show the tie rod end installed the other way up making it hard to grease, and i can not think of a reason why i can not set it up this way..

what if anything am i missing?

    Tie rod end

I used to own a SIII, and I think the answer lies in service and repair. With the wings and radiator support on, you can't get a socket onto it. I imagine that getting a spanner onto it would be hard as well. If you want to grease it, try a 90 degree grease nipple pointed toward the engine. At some point in right turn, the nipple should be accessible lying underneath and reaching up under the battery tray. Since you have the brake line where it is, I'm of the opinion that the tie rod end should stay where it is. If you are worried about the line fouling on the tie rod, move that line clamp you arn't using (The one on the side of the battery tray).
