TD5 into D2a V8 chassis
Can anyone confirm with experience or authority the differences (if any) of the chassis for the D2/a Td5 and the 3.9V8 ? Or has anyone re-powered a V8 D2a with a TD5 and what was the experience and problems/hurdles?
I assume the engine mounting points on the chassis are the sames- albeit that they have different actual engine mounts to mate engine to chassis.
From what I can see the diff ratios are the same also.
I imagine all the body mounting points are the same although from a US forum someone posted details that the diesel had more attachment points but I suspect the petrol diagram was either incomplete,inaccurate or different market/options see frame rust options - DiscoWeb Message Boards
I would like to drop my TD5 body complete with wiring loom etc onto a V8 rolling chassis which I was intending to repower with a reco and tuned up Td5, auto and T/C.
Both are autos, both D2a.
Does anyone have experience with this or advice?
Was also hoping for a point by point body removal guide for the D2 - have done my D3 when replacing engine after cam tensioner bolt failed :-( and it wasnt too bad other than serious pain in the wallet!!
Have access to a two poster hoist but was hoping to complete the transfer in 2 days but not much info on D2 body removal other than Youtube which is not much help.
All advice and wisdom gratefully received.
