Body Lift on 110 Land Rover

    I'm considering a 2" body lift on LR 110.
I have worked out lift brackets and aware that may need to lengthen hoses.
Will the Steering colum accomodate that lift or will it need to be modified?

    TIA
    David.

While your on the subject, what do you achieve from a body lift? Is it that you can fit bigger tyres so you have more clearance? So a body lift on its own is really doing nothing? Sorry, I am a moron, just would like some clarity on this one.

I too was wondering why you would bother on a Defender.
You can run some serious rubber without a body lift.

Just curious - Dont take offence

It is an Isuzu 3.9 which is a very high engine with minimal clearance between engine and bonnet.
I want to put a Turbo system in with a flattened air pipe between turbo unit and manifold over the top of the engine. With 2" body lift will have enough room.
If too complicated will have to direct hose a long way around from turbo to inlet manifold.
Just thinking through my options at present.

    Thanks,
    David.

Cousin John is lifting the body on his County as a result of a GMC V8 diesel transplant.

It is a major exercise and not to be undertaken unless absolutely necessary.

Why not put a pod on the bonnet? Sounds like trying to re-engineer your feet instead of just buying a bigger pair of shoes!?

    Hi David
How about runing the pipe out thru the front and putting an intercooler in front of the radiator????

    Good suggestion Andrew,
The turbo system that I will be putting on will be relatively low pressure and from what I have been told probably wont benifit much with intercooler.
But a possitive suggestion to consider.
The vehicle already has been stripped to bare chassis so welding up a few mounts would probably be easier than constructing a pod and reinforcing the bonnet. However still an option/idea for me to consider.

    Thanks for inputs and ideas.

    David.

KLR Automotive and DieselGas Technlogies have just fitted a Isuzu 3.9 County with a turbo and LPG fumigation and they didn't lift the body.

They bought a kit from somewhere which uses a flattened cast manifold over the engine from the turbo. I had a look at it last week and took a few pix - but not of the turbo install.

    G'day Ron,
This may be a similar setup to what I have seen from Turbo specialist.
Would be very interested in a photo of the cast flat input from turbo to inlet.

    Have sent PM
    David.
