Thread: 10bolt head gasket on 14 bolt head

Yes hard to get the likes of Elring composite etc, there are aftermarket ones like Bearmach etc avail, or the usual tin ones.I believe you can use 10 holes ones just don't torque the 4 outer ones up.

Are the bearmach any good. Have been told to use only felpro or elring

Bearmach ones are aftermarket, I would prefer to use the Elring, but as you pointed out composite ones are harder to get, plenty of stock around of the 10 hole Elrings though.

Burson's can order Permaseal 14 bolt composite head gaskets (I ordered some from them recently). These gaskets were recommended by my engine machinist. I see there are a couple of outlets in Newcastle.

You can fit 10 bolt composites to a 14 bolt head.

Just leave out the outer bolts.
After all that is what LR did by omitting them on later heads to stop the heads jacking and leaking into the cam tunnel..
